Last Friday evening, the Brussels police was called up for night noise in the Steenstraat in Brussels. The officers discovered on the spot that a party was going on above a bar. 25 people were present. The police has drawn up official reports for all those present for non-compliance with the corona measures in our country.
The public prosecutor’s office gives little comment on the identity of those present, including the nature of the party. According to some (Hungarian) media, it would be a sex party for gay men. Those present would have been naked when the police stopped the party, but neither the police nor the public prosecutor want to confirm that. In any case, a prominent Hungarian politician has since confessed to being present at the – as he calls it – private party.
It concerns József Szájer, a Member of the European Parliament of the Hungarian Fidesz party of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and therefore also part of the European People’s Party, which also includes CD&V (although Fidesz is currently still suspended from the EPP). In a statement on its website (which is flat at the time of writing) Szájer explains that the Brussels police also drew up a police report for him and then brought him to his home.
The Member of the European Parliament deeply regrets that he has violated the corona measures in our country. “That was irresponsible of mine. I am ready to receive the punishment for it,” he writes. The man also resigned as a Member of the European Parliament last weekend. That was unexpected then, but it is now clear why he did that. “With that I have drawn personal and political conclusions,” he writes.
In addition to Szájer, a number of diplomats would also have been present at the party.
