Hungarian MEP József Szájer, member of Orbán’s party, resigned after participating in an orgy

Hungarian MEP József Szájer, a prominent member of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s far-right party, Fidesz, resigned after attending a party in Brussels last Friday in violation of travel rules for the pandemic.

The police had intervened on Friday 27 November around 21.30 in a house in the center of Brussels after receiving a report from some neighbors. In the house the police had found and identified about twenty-five people, including two with diplomatic passports. Another person, the Belgian prosecutor said, had been stopped trying to leave the house by climbing down a gutter, with bloody hands and with drugs in his backpack. This person later identified himself as József Szájer by showing his diplomatic passport.

The Belgian newspapers described the party as “an orgy” and a “sex party”: the Brussels Times wrote that most of the 25 partygoers were men. After the news hit the press, Szájer – who is 59 and has been working as an MEP since 2004 – confirmed the news, explaining that he had resigned as an MP and apologizing to his family and party.

Szájer – who is moved with prominent Hungarian lawyer and judge Tünde Handó and has a daughter – denied that the drug he found in his backpack was his and said he never took any and didn’t know who put it there. All partygoers were fined for violating coronavirus restrictions.
