Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó Meeting with Transcarpathian OVA Head on Hungarian-Ukrainian Border

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó met with the head of the Transcarpathian OVA, Viktor Mikita, at a checkpoint on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border.

Details: According to the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Mikita “brought a completely new approach to Transcarpathia: a culture of reconciliation, so that Ukrainians and Hungarians could live side by side in peace and harmony.”

“We would like to improve cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary, so it is good that the head of the OBA joined the Ukrainian delegation at the border in Zahony,” Szijjártó wrote.

After this, Szijjarto went to Uzhgorod, where Meets with Ukrainian colleague Dmitry Kuleba and head of the Presidential Office Andrey Ermak.

Earlier it was reported that the meeting of the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and Hungary was aimed at prepare a meeting President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.

Before this Szijjarto had a conversation with the head of the Office Ukrainian President Andriy Yermak, during which he said that a meeting between Zelensky and Orban would make sense “if it can produce results.”

Before that, Zelensky and Orban met briefly in Argentina during a visit to the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected president. Orban then said that he accepted Zelensky’s invitation to talk about issues of bilateral relations, but with the condition that the foreign ministers prepare the meeting.

There has not been a full-fledged meeting between Ukrainian President Zelensky and Hungarian Prime Minister Orban since the beginning of Zelensky’s term.
