South Galway OT 2025 Kicks Off with a Healthy Start Along the Gort River Walk
More than 150 adults and children rang in the New Year with a commitment too health and fitness,embarking on a six-week journey along the scenic Gort River Walk. Despite the frosty weather, the event, organized by South Galway OT 2025, saw participants gather for a refreshing walk through the town, guided by 15 dedicated leaders and escorted by Gort’s Community Garda.
The program has already garnered important interest, with over 370 participants signed up for an action-packed schedule of activities. From family hikes and trails to pole walking, yoga, and gym sessions, the initiative offers something for everyone. Fitness enthusiasts can also take part in the Couch to 5K and 5 to 10K running programs,while the brave can test their limits with a few sea dips.
Children are not left out of the fun. They’ll have the chance to explore hip hop dance, fitness classes, and even learn camogie and hurling skills alongside their parents. “We’re thrilled to see such a positive response from the community,” said Marie Rohan, one of the leaders of South Galway OT. “The enthusiasm and commitment from everyone involved are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to see the progress over the next six weeks.”
