The cities of Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Offenbach report numerous violations of the Corona regulations.

Since March, the city of Frankfurt has fined more than half a million euros for violating Corona regulations. According to the public order office, it was 519 655 euros until shortly before Christmas. Despite the significantly lower population, the city of Offenbach imposed a fine of 391,328 euros in the same period. In Wiesbaden, however, it was only around 46,100 euros.

“In addition to violations of masks, blocking times and alcohol consumption, this sum also includes violations of the contact and distance regulations,” said the city of Offenbach. Furthermore, sanctions were imposed if travelers returning from risk areas did not report to the health department or went into quarantine. In the case of traders, it was contact lists that were not kept and the continuation of business despite the prohibition or disregard of hygiene regulations.

The city police in Frankfurt have carried out 195,000 checks since March. In Wiesbaden there were 14,200. There is no exact number for the controls in Offenbach, but the city switched its operations to a 24-hour service in April because calls and personal visits have doubled since March. “Since then, the city police have been carrying out checks almost exclusively as part of the corona pandemic,” it says.

Traffic monitoring is ensured by twelve employees, with two of these people also checking the mask requirement at the weekly market three times a week. In all three cities there was also support from the state and federal police.

In Offenbach alone, 2,358 violations of the mask requirement were registered. In Wiesbaden there were 920, and an additional 3500 warnings were issued. In Frankfurt there were around 3,550 offenses against wearing mouth and nose protection.

In Frankfurt, 306 administrative offense proceedings were initiated for alcohol consumption in public places, in Offenbach there were 17, in Wiesbaden only one. In addition, there were seven violations of the alcohol sales ban after 11 p.m. in Frankfurt, there were four in Wiesbaden, and none in Offenbach. There were eight proceedings in Frankfurt for violating the blocking times for restaurants from 11 p.m., in Offenbach there were twelve and in Wiesbaden there were none.

83 further violations of the curfew were registered in Offenbach. This has been in effect since December 12th. Nobody is allowed to leave the house between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. without a valid reason, such as doing their job or receiving medical care.

The courts were also concerned with the various violations. “In the case of currently 7456 written administrative offense proceedings, we have 380 objections,” said the Frankfurt regulatory office. In Offenbach there are 54, in Wiesbaden 30.
