SEVILLE, June 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Several “hundreds” of people have participated this Tuesday afternoon in the mobilization promoted by the families of the José María del Campo school in Seville from the center, in Pagés del Corro, to the headquarters of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, in the palace of San Telmo, demanding that the English line is not eliminated.
Olga Navarro, vice-president of the association of mothers and fathers of students (AMPA) Reina Victoria of CEIP José María del Campo, explained to Europa Press that “hundreds” of people have participated in the protest, since the “400 t-shirts have been sold out. “provided by the organization for distribution among the participants of the march, celebrated with” posters, t-shirts, songs and dances “from Pagés del Corro street to the San Telmo palace, passing through Génova street, Plaza de Cuba, Paseo de Las Delicias, La Rábida street and Palos de la Frontera.
Previously, at 9.30 a.m., the families who had requested that their three-year-old children enter the English line of this school, which has an award for good educational practices for its linguistic project, have submitted allegations in the registry of the Ministry of Education, in Torretriana.
Under the slogan ‘Don’t take away our English line!’, Families will continue to mobilize so that “this line is not removed in this multilingual center”, underlining that “bilingualism is a commitment of the Junta de Andalucía, and this center he was a pioneer in this educational model. ” Currently, the school had two lines per course, one for English and one for French.
“Each line is different, so, by removing the English line, the school is split in half,” they warn, regretting that the Board has decided to remove this line “after the deadline, when the schooling process was already started. and many families had chosen English, so the violation of their right to choose is flagrant. “
To this end, Olga Navarro has demanded that the Minister of Education, Javier Imbroda (Cs), and the president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, “listen” to these demands and not hide behind “the excuse” of the drop in the birth rate , insisting on the idea that CEIP José María del Campo is a “pioneer” school and a benchmark in terms of languages.
