Several hundred people joined a silent march in Hoorn for 14-year-old Dani, who died two weeks ago. died after a stabbing near his school.
The tour began at a funeral home and ended at the Oscar Romero School, where Dani attended school. Participants in the procession carried torches. Many young people participated.
“When a little fight ends up as something that big, it can’t be,” a friend of the victim said NH News. “I hope people stop using guns and knives and start talking.”
‘This should never have happened’
Participants included Mayor Nieuwenburg van Hoorn and Mayor Pijl van Drechterland, where Dani lived. “It’s a terrible accident. It really does something for our community,” Nieuwenburg said.
Mayor Pijl didn’t just support the family. “But also to indicate that this should never have happened and that violence is never the solution”. At the end of the tour, flowers were placed in the school and torches were lit. Then there was a long and big round of applause. Dani is subsequently buried privately.
Arrested 16-year-old for stabbing
Dani was stabbed near his school in late October. He was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, where he died a few days later. Shortly after the accident, a 16-year-old boy from Hoorn inmate.
Investigations into the stabbing are still ongoing. Eyewitnesses previously told NH Nieuws that three boys had a fight in the smoking area just off the schoolyard.
