Hundreds of Palestinian Men and Children Stripped and Detained by Israeli Army in Gaza Stadium

(CNN) – Social media users circulated an edited video clip that appears to show Palestinian men and at least two children detained and stripped of their clothes by the Israeli army in a stadium in northern Gaza.

Clips in the video show what appear to be two young boys in one shot, stripped naked and wearing only their underwear, walking and raising their hands as the Israeli army directs them on the field.

In another shot, two people who appear to be the same young boys are shown stripped naked with their hands above their heads, lined up with other men who appear to be teenagers and adults.

CNN was unable to verify when the video was filmed, while CNN geolocation shows that the video was filmed at Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City, where the non-governmental organization Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Watch said it received reports of arrests.

CNN reached out to the Israeli military late Tuesday night for comment on the video and the detained children, but has not yet received any response.

Israeli forces have arrested hundreds of Palestinian men and boys in recent weeks. In the past, the Israeli army said it stripped detainees of their clothes to ensure they were not carrying explosives.

The men can be seen throughout the video stripped naked and wearing only their underwear. In some clips, detainees sit on the ground with their hands tied to their backs, some are blindfolded, and stand in a row while soldiers watch and examine them.

The videos also show other women and children being detained. In one shot, three fully clothed women are shown blindfolded and with their hands tied behind their backs as they sit on the grass in front of a soccer goal on the field, while an Israeli flag is seen hanging over the soccer goal.

Military vehicles and bulldozers also appear in the video throughout the stadium.

The non-profit Euro-Mediterranean Observatory for Human Rights said that it had received information that the Israeli army was arresting hundreds of Palestinians from the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City, including dozens of women who were taken to Yarmouk Stadium.

The Observatory said in a statement: “Palestinian males, including children as young as 10 years old and elderly people over 70 years old, were forced to remove all their clothes except underwear and stand in humiliating lines in front of the detained women in the same stadium,” calling for The international community needs to investigate the arrest photos.

At least 20,915 people have died in Gaza since the war with Israel began on October 7, according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry in the enclave, and the ministry said nearly 55,000 people have been infected. CNN cannot independently verify the numbers published by the ministry in Gaza, because access to the Strip is limited and reliable numbers are difficult to confirm amid the fighting.

According to a member of Hamas’s political bureau, Izzat al-Rishq, the movement will not return to negotiations with Israel “without a comprehensive cessation of aggression,” while Israel pledged to continue its siege – which included intense air bombardment and a continuous ground invasion – until Hamas is eliminated. The Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces, Herzi Halevy, said on Tuesday that the campaign would continue “for several more months.”
