Hundreds of new Model Y cars have been spotted around Gigafactory in Germany. The plant does not have regulatory approval

Hundreds of new Model Y models have been spotted around Germany’s Tesla electric car plant, indicating that production at Gigafactory is progressing. Against this background, there is still no regulatory approval for the official start of production and deliveries to customers, writes electrek.co

Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is one of Tesla’s most important plans to expand production in Europe. The company has not yet received the necessary permission to start producing vehicles to deliver to its customers in Europe. The approval process took months.

Last month, Tesla confirmed that it had built the first few Model Ys at Gigafactory Berlin in late 2021. The electric carmaker received approval to build 2,000 Model Y models at Gigafactory Berlin before final approval from the state of Brandenburg.

Tesla’s plant in Germany is likely to begin production within a month

The start has already been postponed several times

In addition, Tesla has announced the need to conduct more tests of its production process, which seem to be successful given the hundreds of Model Y vehicles around Gigafactory Berlin.

The news of the serious production of the Model Y is a positive sign, but on the other hand not so much. When (if) Tesla gets approved, it will have the right to produce larger volumes faster, but in the meantime, more serious production at the factory without any revenue will be quite expensive.

Tesla has invested hundreds of millions in the production of these vehicles and has not received any of them so far. If production continues without approval, it will begin to weigh on the company’s budget.

India

India is “blackmailing” Tesla into buying car parts for $ 500 million from the country. Why?

The electric car company will soon have to present a plan to the Indian government to supply components

On the other hand, any delay in approval of the factory puts Germany in a bad light for businesses planning to invest in the country, as Tesla’s experience will serve as a warning of the heavy bureaucracy in the country that businesses may face.

Currently, one of the main obstacles is environmental approval and it seems to be related to water supply. Tesla has had to reconsider its water supply plan several times because there is not enough groundwater in the region.

However, Brandenburg’s economy minister, Jörg Steinbach, recently said that “the current water supply is sufficient for the first stage of the plant.”

Meanwhile, it is still unclear when Tesla will receive approval to officially begin production and deliveries from Gigafactory Berlin.
