Hundreds of Netizens ‘Bless’ Posts Chinese Army Prepares for War

BEIJING – Hundreds of thousands netizen China gave approval to the posts of the country’s army group about “preparing for war” on social networks Weibo . This post comes as Beijing warns Washington of its provocation of Taiwan .

According to state news agency Global Times, the post may refer to China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) commemoration and the President’s speech Xi Jinping .

A message containing only two characters in Chinese was posted on Friday on the Weibo page of the PLA 80th Army Group, which is headquartered in Weifang, Shandong province. This post quickly generated over 300,000 positive reactions and nearly 20,000 comments.

The post could be translated as “prepare for war” or “ready for war,” but the Global Times said the correct translation would be “Prepare for war!” Russia TodaySaturday (30/7/2022).

The 80th Army Group provided additional context in a commentary, saying: “we must remember the fundamental responsibility of preparing for war and leading the way of a strong army.”

The Global Times reported Xi Jinping earlier as saying that only those who are capable of fighting can stop fighting from the start, and only those who are prepared for war should not stumble. The newspaper is an English-language subsidiary of the People’s Daily, the official newspaper of China’s ruling Communist Party.

China is currently busy with preparations to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the PLA which falls on August 1. However, the Weibo post comes just a day after a phone call between Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden, in which the Chinese leader sent a very sharp message to the US.

“Those who play with fire will perish because of it. It is hoped that the US will see clearly about this,” Xi told Biden, according to a Chinese telephone reading.

“Beijing resolutely opposes Taiwan separatism in any form,” Xi added.
