Hundreds of Lebak residents are infected with dengue fever, 4 people are reported to have died

Valley (BETWEEN) –

Hundreds of residents of Lebak Regency, Banten Province, were attacked by dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and four of them were reported to have died.

Head of the Section for the Eradication and Prevention of Communicable Diseases at the Lebak District Health Office, Rohmat in Lebak, Monday, said the number of residents who had been infected with dengue fever since the beginning of 2022 until now has recorded 112 people and four have died.

A total of 112 cases of dengue fever were spread in 13 districts, namely Rangkasbitung 49 cases (4 deaths), Cibadak 20 cases, Kalanganyar 11 cases, Cibeber 5 cases, Cimarga 5 cases, Curugbitung 4 cases.

In addition, Sajira 4 cases, Warunggunung 4 cases, Maja 4 cases, Cileles 3 cases, Cipanas 1 case, Cikulur 1 case and Sobang 1 case.

“All DHF patients are treated by medical personnel at the puskesmas and a number of hospitals,” he said.

According to him, the spread of dengue fever in Lebak Regency since January 2022 until now has soared in conjunction with the rainy season.

The condition of the rainy season has the potential to accelerate the breeding of the Aedes aegypti mosquito as the spreader of the dengue virus.

His party asked the community to work together to carry out the mosquito nest eradication movement (PSN) and carry out 3M (bury, drain, close).

The PSN and 3M movements are considered more effective in breaking the chain of transmission of this deadly disease, because they can kill mosquito larvae compared to spraying or fumigating.

“We hope that the community can carry out the PSN and 3 M Movements to prevent the transmission of DHF,” said Rohmat.

He said that the cause of the spread of dengue fever was due to environmental conditions where there was a lot of garbage so that rainwater did not touch the ground and the Aedes Aegypti mosquito breeds in used cans, tires and used goods.

Usually, he said, the spread of dengue fever was in densely populated areas, such as in the 13 sub-districts.

“We do not stop socializing the prevention of dengue disease so that people are alert, especially the rainfall increases,” he explained.

“I consider breaking the chain of the spread of DHF through PSN,” he said.

Meanwhile, Teguh (45), a resident of Palaton Rangkasbitung Housing, Lebak Regency, admitted that his nephew, who is a toddler, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Adjidarmo Rangkasbitung Hospital due to dengue fever.

“We are relieved now that the patient’s condition has improved,” said Teguh.
