Hundreds of flights canceled in Portugal due to strike
Lisbon, July 18, LETA – AP. In Portugal, the strike between airport baggage handlers and aircraft maintenance staff continues for the second day in a row, and most inbound and outbound flights at Lisbon airport have been canceled on Sunday.
The 48-hour strike already on Saturday led to the cancellation of some 300 flights, which mainly affected Lisbon Airport.
The strike could affect just as many flights on Sunday.
The strike is part of a financial conflict between the Portuguese aircraft operator Groundforce and the national airline TAP Air Portuga, which has suffered the most from the cancellation.
Groundforce claims that TAP Air Portugal owes it EUR 12 million for its services, which has delayed the payment of salaries to its employees.
TAP Air Portugal denies being indebted to Groundforce.
