Hundreds of DHF cases over the course of 2022, 4 died – Benuanta

continental.co.id, TARAKAN – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are a serious concern. The DHF cases in Tarakan have affected hundreds of people.

Tarakan City Health Bureau Chief Dr. Devi Ika Idriarti, M.Kes appealed to the public to regularly perform drainage, closure and landfill (3M). His party is also seeking this appeal in the form of a circular from the mayor of Tarakan.

“Since it is impossible for us to move alone, the community must also move. Because if we look at the cases from January to October, the cases have never decreased”, he explained on Saturday (7/10/2022).

Last September, the cases of DPD touched about 60 cases of DHF. The peak of this case is in August, which is very high. He also hopes that in the last three months of 2022 there will not be an increase in dengue cases until the end of this year.

“So the total is more than 400, regardless of age, some are children and some are adults,” Devi said.

The number of 400 cases was accumulated from January to September 2022. That is why he really hopes that the public is aware of environmental cleanliness. If there are piles of objects, they must be broken down immediately so that they do not become mosquito nests.

Devi went on to say that there have been 4 cases of dengue fever this year, specifically 2 people in February, 1 April and 1 September.

“There have been 4 deaths up to September, yesterday most of them were children,” he said.

As for the fogging itself, it is necessary to conduct an epidemiological investigation. This means that if there are positive cases of dengue fever in the area, your party immediately conducts an investigation and if the results are positive you can proceed to fogging. Not just fogging, he also said there were no kills or limitations of maggots.

“Fogging kills adult mosquitoes, so we’ll see if there is a transmission source or not, sometimes people get it wrong. For example, if it’s positive, ask for fogging, even if the source of the infection is not there, maybe in another place, “he explained.

“If the killing is better, we kill the larvae from the beginning so that there are no mosquitoes. Since we also see the high number of dengue cases, the correlation with our larval absence rate is still less than 95 percent, “she concluded.
