An internal malfunction in some budget meters caused their shutdown overnight Thursday to Friday, says Ores, the operator of the gas and electricity networks in most municipalities in the Walloon Region. Affected customers must go to an Ores office, with their reload card, to have their counter reset.
Ores reports that his teams are trying to determine the exact origin of the incident. The operator refers to his website for any questions. In case of emergency, the services can also be reached on 078 / 78.78.00.
Ores could not yet estimate the exact number of customers affected on Friday morning, speaking of “hundreds” of households affected.
On June 30, the non-shutdown period established on March 18 by the Walloon government ended in the context of the coronavirus crisis and the limitation of movement. Ores had granted an additional three days to allow consumers with a budget meter to reactivate their device from a charging point. As of Friday morning, 3,500 households still had to do this, a spokesperson said.
Queues
The breakdown “occurred randomly” and concerns the entire territory managed by Ores, the latter said in a press release. The meters concerned cut themselves automatically, depriving customers of electricity and / or gas supply.
Injured persons must go to an Ores office, with their recharging card, so that it can be reprogrammed or a temporary solution can be offered to them.
In Montignies-sur-Sambre, some customers in the queue waited 1 hour 15 minutes. The last ones were already 45 minutes away…
