Details: The Rafah checkpoint was reportedly closed again after trucks from the Egyptian Red Crescent, which is responsible for delivering aid from various UN agencies, passed through.
More than 200 trucks were waiting on the Egyptian side.
As trucks carrying humanitarian aid entered Rafah, Palestinian Americans and other dual citizens rushed to the checkpoint from the Gaza Strip, but were not allowed through.
Embassies have asked their citizens in Gaza to be ready to cross the border, but crowds of frustrated Palestinians with American, Canadian, German and British passports have waited futilely for hours for at least the fifth time this week, the newspaper said.
UN humanitarian agencies said the first convoy of 20 aid trucks that arrived in Gaza on Saturday was “just the beginning.”
A joint statement from agencies including the World Health Organization, the World Food Program and others said that more than 1.6 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
Meanwhile, Doctors Without Borders say Gaza’s health system is “on the verge of collapse.”
At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces on Saturday released thermal imaging footage showing unsuccessful rocket launches from Gaza falling into the Strip.
Since October 7, more than 550 rockets fired at Israel have missed their targets, killing Palestinians, according to the IDF.
