The cultural forum is very popular: over 6,000 visitors have already visited the ongoing exhibition “What a People” – the Schwerin Caricature Prize for German Unity Day 2024 – in the first three weeks. Particularly during the days of the citizens’ festival for German unity, numerous interested people streamed into the exhibition rooms. Also in October, the Cultural Forum offers a varied accompanying program with special evening events on the topics of caricature, satire and literature.

Night of Knowledge on October 19th: Humorous insight into the world of comics

On Saturday, October 19th, the Cultural Forum invites you to the “Night of Knowledge”. From 6 p.m., visitors have free entry to the exhibition rooms. In addition, they can take part in an entertaining lecture by the well-known cartoonist Mario Lars, who gives a humorous introduction to the topic “How is a comic created?” The artist, known for his sharp pen strokes, will give his presentation several times – at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The event offers the opportunity to look behind the scenes of comic creation and take a humorous look at the work of a cartoonist.

Literature concert: “Brecht! – A b.oppressive evening” on October 22nd

On Tuesday, October 22nd, at 7 p.m., another highlight is on the program: the literary concert “Brecht! – A b.oppressive evening”. In this event, Hedwig Golpon and Benjamin Saupe dedicate themselves to the work of the important poet and playwright Bertolt Brecht. With a mixture of texts and songs, they illuminate Brecht’s critical and at the same time highly topical view of society. The poet’s satirical works are stimulating, thoughtful and alarming at the same time. The evening promises an intense experience that will shake you up and make you think. Tickets for the concert are available for 12 euros.
