Humidity and heat continue -longest heat wave in years

The heat alert will remain in effect until Sunday, making it the longest heat wave since 2013.

The National Weather Service notes that the combination of heat and humidity will cause heat indices to reach between 90 and above 100 degrees. The map of the area in his message on networks says it all: ‘Excessive heat’.

But a bit of relief: rain is possible on Thursday afternoon.

The city has responded to the heat wave in several ways:

  • The operating hours of the public pools have been extended until 8 at night.
  • Cooling stations are open throughout the city.

And if you want to conserve energy while you cool off, we recommend:

Set your air conditioner to 78 degrees. Running it at a lower temperature consumes at least 18 percent more electricity.

You can also turn off your air conditioner when no one is home, or set a timer to come on when you get home.
