The Humen ice hockey players won two out of four matches during the regional rounds, which is a decent feat considering that they are in last place and in these duels they face teams from the top of the table. Martin Śtrba’s men ended the last calendar year with a 6:4 win in Košice and reached the goal of 31 points in the table, thus losing only five points to the penultimate Nové Zámky. At home, the “lions” have already collected 23 points. The most productive player of the Humen team is Hannu Kuru with 25 points.
After a 12-game winning streak, the Michalov team lost twice to Spišská Nová Ves, currently they are on the 3rd place in the table with 53 points. It must be said, however, that Košice and Banská Bystrica are pressing in behind them, losing only a point. On the other hand, coach Kúdelka’s team is just one point short of the second-placed Poprad. With 110 goals scored, Michalovce have the best offensive in the league, together with Spišská Nova Vsa, the most productive player of the team is the Latvian Kaspars Daugavinš (31 points).
Mutual matches this season brought three Michalov triumphs – the “foxes” won 7:2 at home and 4:0 a week ago, they won 3:1 in Humenno at the end of November.
