The universe has always attracted human interest to research. In fact, some believe we can live in other places than Earth. Apart from the Moon, Mars is also often touted as the future home of mankind.
Given its location that is not too far away, and the conditions are much safer than other planets, it’s no wonder that many space agencies like NASA are competing to send their robots to research the Red Planet.
Unfortunately, although in some ways the planet Mars is much safer, Mars is not Earth. No matter how hard scientists try to build a settlement on Mars, life there will never be as comfortable as ours on Earth. Reported Space.com, here are six harsh facts that humans must accept if they live on the planet Mars!
1. You have to say goodbye to blue skies
nasa.gov–
Blue sky with yellowish sun becomes a familiar sight for us. But if the sky is reddish with a blue sun? Now that’s amazing! Of course, you will never find a scene like this on Earth, because this view can only be found on the planet Mars.
Reported by Forbes, the atmosphere of Mars is much thinner than Earth, besides that the dust content in the atmosphere is also very high, creating a reddish sky. When red dust absorbs light, they produce a blue color around the Sun.
One day on Mars lasts 24 hours and 37 minutes of Earth time. Even so, because its orbit is much larger than Earth’s orbit, one year on Mars is equivalent to 687 days or about 2 Earth years. Because a year on Mars is much longer than Earth, a baby born on Mars will have a birthday every two years. This is certainly different from Earth humans who have a birthday every once a year.
Just like Earth, Mars also has natural satellites surrounding it. Not just one, but two satellites, namely Phobos and Deimos. However, unlike the spherical Moon, the two Mars satellites are more like asteroids trapped in Martian gravity.
These two satellites then take turns guarding the Martian sky. If Phobos is published, Deimos will be immersed and vice versa. Unfortunately, this scene is not predicted to last forever. The reason is that in the next 30 to 50 million years, Phobos is predicted to fall to the surface of Mars and be destroyed.

4. Dust storms on Mars will force you to stay at home for weeks

Even though it looks calm, the planet Mars actually holds many dangers. One of them is the dust storm which becomes its annual disaster. In fact, it is not uncommon for these storms to cover the entire planet with dust for weeks, and make it difficult for sunlight to reach the surface of Mars.
If humans live on Mars, dust storms can be a serious problem that must be faced. We may not be able to leave the house, because the flying dust will hinder our activities outside the home.

5. You also have to wear special clothes

Unlike Earth, which has an atmosphere suitable for our bodies, the atmosphere of Mars, on the other hand, is very inhospitable to humans. The atmospheric pressure on Mars is very low, not to mention carbon dioxide which controls 95 percent of the atmosphere making blood boil and difficulty breathing.
Because the conditions are quite extreme, to be able to survive on Mars, you not only need super thick and warm clothes, but also special clothes. Don’t ever be desperate to leave the house, because without special clothes we will only survive for about two minutes.

6. You have to wear thick clothes everywhere

If on Earth we can wear whatever clothes we want, on Mars you can’t go around. This is because the temperature on Mars is very different from Earth’s temperature. Reporting from Space.com, because the distance between the Sun and the planet Mars is farther away, the temperature there is also much colder. The average temperature on Mars is only -60 degrees Celsius.
In winter, the temperature can fall as low as -125 degrees Celsius. If you are lucky, you can live near the equator which has a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius in the summer. But the good weather only applies during the day, because when night falls, the temperature that was warm will drop back to -73 degrees Celsius.
