The human rights lawyer, Alberto Nallar, was sentenced by the Jujuy justice system to three years and six months in prison. The person involved provided legal advice to protesters in the massive protests in the province against the constitutional reform promoted by former governor Gerardo Morales.
For his part, Nallar stated that “there is persecution” against him and that “they are determined to discipline the society of Jujuy with my sentence,” he said when criticizing his sentence.
In addition, he confirmed that the local Judiciary functions “at the service” of the Executive and Gerardo Morales as the “boss,” and maintained that in the province there is no “Rule of Law.” With reference to this, he recalled that the provincial Executive acted as the complainant and “only witness.”
To conclude, the lawyer said that “if the sentence becomes final, I will gladly serve the sentence for the sole and sole purpose of ensuring that we all understand the problem we are going through and the imperative need for federal intervention to be made effective. the province to unanchor the Judicial Branch from the Executive Branch.”
