The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation launched the “Metaverse Applications Award in the Labor Market” for students of higher education institutions as part of its agenda for the activities of the “UAE Innovation Month 2023” and in support of its strategy aimed at adopting the best innovative ideas and practices and studying the reality of work environments and surrounding variables to find effective solutions to current and emerging challenges, and develop Proactive strategies, plans and initiatives that support the process of excellence in providing government services and improving the quality of life.

Noura Al Marzouqi, Assistant Undersecretary for Policy and Strategy Sector at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, said: “Innovation represents a well-established culture and way of life in the UAE in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him. She explained that the award is divided into 3 categories, each centered on the use of Metaverse technology in the ministry’s services, namely: the best innovative prototype for the ministry’s services at the individual and collective levels, the best innovative idea for the ministry’s services at the individual and collective levels, and the best supervisor/trainer for the use of Metaverse applications who They supervised the development of a prototype, while the award criteria are divided into four, which are application, application effectiveness, application efficiency and “generalizability”.

The Ministry specified the conditions for participation in the award that the student / team applying to participate in the main categories of the award should be students from one of the higher education institutions accredited in the country, and that the participation be innovative, creative and far from repetition and imitation, and that the participation matches the objectives and scope of the award, and that the idea that was developed is Addressed in all categories of the award is practical and applicable, and that participation is a prototype of the innovative idea while it is in the development stage for the main category (the best innovative model), noting that the student may participate in more than one category of the award categories, and the team must consist of at least four students in the main award categories, and entries will be received through an approved nomination form in all categories, with appropriate documents and evidence attached.

The Labor Market Hackathon aims to find innovative solutions to a set of challenges with the participation of the Ministry’s work teams and its customers, by presenting a set of challenges according to three axes. Study and analysis tools to predict the future, and tools and programs to deal with managing short and long-term changes. The third axis is resources/support and includes results of happiness, human resources, communication, marketing programs, and business continuity.
