Even though it has been a natural satellite of Earth for a long time, the Moon is still a mystery that hasn’t been completely solved, Kids.

There are still many stories and legends that still cover its existence, one of which is about the ashes on the surface of the Moon.






The ashes belonged to a planetary geologist named Eugene Shoemaker who was the only person buried on the Moon.

Eugene Shoemaker is one of the scientists who played an important role in humanity’s efforts to understand our solar system.








Mr. Shoemaker was also one of the founders of the astrogeology branch of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and played an important role in the training phase of the Apollo astronauts.

Work done during his lifetime has helped identify the moon and the depressions on its surface.

However, he was unable to realize his dream of setting foot on the Moon, due to health reasons which disqualified Mr. Shoemaker from the astronaut team.

Even so, his passion for exploring the moon never diminished, his work and research continued and inspired the field of planetary geology until his death in 1997.

Then, how can the story of Mr. Shoemaker’s ashes be laid to rest on the Moon?
