The department’s health authorities are concerned after the spike in positive cases of covid-19. According to the delivered report, so far in the last 6 new patients infected with the virus were reported this week, two of whom were hospitalized.

“It is important to resume biosecurity measures, we must use the mask when we are indoors, where there are crowds, when we have respiratory symptoms, likewise maintain the culture of hand washing and be able to complete vaccination schedules, we still have a susceptible population because it has not received any vaccines or lacks reinforcements,” he said César Alberto Polanía Silva, Secretary of Health of Huila.

The official also announced that the vaccines are currently available in all municipal hospitals, therefore voluntary community approaches to start or complete programs, now Covid19 vaccines are part of the Expanded Program of Immunization.

“The provision announced by the Minister of Health is correct, taking into account the climatic conditions that the country is experiencing, the increase in other respiratory infections such as the flu and other viruses is very likely, where the use of masks plays an important role .in prevention and control” added Polanía Silva.

As it has been implemented, the use of masks is maintained in medical and hospital care spaces, in homes for the protection of the elderly, in the mass media of transport and in those individual cases in which respiratory diseases or flu states prevail.

It is worth noting that several municipalities in the department have not yet completed the goal of 70% of the first doses of the pandemic virus vaccine.
