Hugo Samir feel like a special day Indonesian U-24 National Team beat Kyrgyzstan 2-0 in the first match of Group F Asian Games 2023 at Zhejiang Normal University East Stadium, China, Tuesday (19/9).
Hugo was able to score a goal for the Indonesian national team for the first time. The debut goal was also more meaningful because it helped determine the victory for the Garuda Muda team.
The young player belonging to Borneo FC only came on to replace Egy Maulana Vikri in the 83rd minute. Only 10 minutes later, the son of Jacksen F. Tiago was able to put his name on the scoreboard.
The goal stemmed from Hugo’s success in stealing the ball from a Kyrgyz player. He then fired a horizontal shot from outside the penalty box which went past the opposing goalkeeper.
The goal that Hugo scored was full of meaning. Previously, the 18-year-old player had only contributed assists while strengthening the age group national team.
Hugo has so far made two assists. He made that moment when the Indonesian U-20 National Team won 4-0 over Fiji and beat Syria with a score of 1-0.
Hugo has played a total of six matches with the Indonesian U-20 National Team coached by Shin Tae Yong. His self-confidence slowly increased as trust continued to be given.
Now Hugo has the opportunity to make another mark with the U-24 Indonesian National Team. The potential for scoring other goals is also open. The Indonesian U-24 National Team will meet Taiwan in the second match of Group F of the 2023 Asian Games, next Thursday (21/9).
