Christmas is a holiday that many associate with traditions. For some it wouldn’t be Christmas without pork chops, for others it wouldn’t be Christmas without ribs. The duo also starred opposite each other in the films ‘Sense and Sensibility’, ‘The Remains of the Day’ and ‘Impromptu’.
Moving scene
Thompson’s character in the film has a moving and heartfelt scene where she is reduced to tears when she realizes her husband is having an affair.
The character thought she was getting gold jewelry for Christmas from her husband, but soon realizes the gift was meant for someone else when she unwraps a Joni Mitchell record.

The scene must have been very personal to Thompson who she herself experienced that her ex-husband was unfaithful to her.
