VILLARRICA – Slovak triathletes Richard Varga and Ivana Kuriačková took 2nd place in the male and female categories at the America’s Cup and South American Championship races in the Chilean city of Villarrica.
For the first time in history, Slovaks placed on the podium in both categories at an international race abroad.
Only the Brazilian Kaue Willy beat Varga. “It was a good day, I felt much more agile in the race. I am very happy with the second place. I constantly pushed in all three disciplines, which is a good sign that I am going in the right direction for the season,” the portal of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee quoted the 34-year-old athlete.
Kuriačková finished behind the Argentinian Romina Biagliová. Her compatriot Margaréta Bičanová finished in 6th place.
