Huge Solar Storm Launches to Earth, Will Disrupt Satellite Navigation

JAKARTA – Space Weather Prediction Center’s (SWPC) states that Sun storm massive mass is hurtling towards the earth at a speed of 970 kilometers per second. The solar storm that has occurred since yesterday until now is expected to disrupt a number of satellite navigation systems.

SWPC revealed that on October 28, 2021, the sun also emitted a flare of electrically charged particles and caused a strong geomagnetic storm. However, this new hurricane is categorized as G3 on a scale of 5 with an even larger payload.

“The impact on our technology from the G3 hurricane is generally only nominal. However, hurricane G3 has the potential to push the aurora further away from its normal polar habitat, allowing it to be seen far in the Northeast, into the upper Midwest and over Washington state,” the SWPC said in a statement. Sun storm Coronal mass ejections (CMEs), are a type of space weather that occurs when large clumps of plasma are released from the sun’s atmosphere. Meanwhile, the G3 storm, which is moving towards the earth, has a speed of about 970 kilometers per second.

It takes about 15 to 18 hours for these CMEs to hit Earth’s magnetic shield, compressing the shield slightly. The charged solar particles then shoot down magnetic field lines, towards the North and South Poles and crash into atmospheric molecules.
