Municipal and welfare area employers KT’s head of negotiation, deputy judge, has been elected as the new CEO of KT Henrik Nybondas-Fabric.
The selection was made by KT’s board Nybondas-Kankaan and the state secretary Mika Nykänen during their meeting on Monday. Nybondas-Kangas was elected by a vote of 8–7.
Nykänen, who comes from a coalition background, is the Minister of Labour Arto Satos and the Minister of Environment and Climate Kai Mykkänen Secretary of State.
Nybondas-Kangas has a bachelor’s degree in law. He has worked at KT in various positions for 25 years. Nybondas-Kangas heads the unit responsible for social and health care and early childhood education services at KT. He is a member of KT’s management team and acts as deputy to the CEO. Before KT, he has worked at Hanken, among others.
Negotiated labor market solutions
Nybondas-Kangas has played a central role in negotiating several demanding labor market solutions in the municipal and welfare sector. He has led significant reforms in the sector, such as the overall reform of the payroll systems in the municipal and welfare sectors, which is still ongoing. He also participated in the preparation of social security reform and oversaw the interests of employers.
He is also responsible for KT’s Nordic and EU-level cooperation and knows the labor market systems of different countries.
– The municipal and welfare labor market field is a large and demanding entity. Henrika Nybondas-Kangas knows the industry’s labor market, its gamblers and the rules of the game very well. We are really happy to have such a top talent as CEO, says the chairman of KT’s board of directors Ari Korhonen in the bulletin.
Broad scope and ability to cooperate were emphasized
23 people applied for the position of CEO of KT. According to Korhonen, very different but strong candidates were selected for the final stage.
– We had several good applicants who have the skills needed for the demanding job. In the selection, emphasis was placed, among other things, on broad expertise and the ability to cooperate with different stakeholders. I thank all applicants for participating in the process, says Ari Korhonen.
KT’s current CEO Markku Jalonen retires. His last day of work is February 28.
