Large volumes of Russian oil are still being transferred between tankers a few miles off the coast of Spain, just weeks after authorities there sent local companies a warning of the ban on such operations.
Four very large oil tankers are now moored off the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa, according to Vortexa and ship-tracking data collected by Bloomberg. The 4 tankers combined can transport nearly 8 million barrels of oil.
One tanker, Veronica, has already received shipments from two smaller tankers and is now receiving shipments from a third. As for the second tanker, called “Anshun II”, it received one shipment from a smaller vessel, and the other two tankers have not received any shipments yet.
