Pokemon developer Game Freak has been the victim of a major hacker attack that has leaked a lot of information, including the codename for the new Nintendo Switch 2 console.

how come IGN reportsover the weekend a large amount of data was leaked online as a result of a hacker attack on the company. Although it was initially unclear how reliable the leaked information was, Game Freak released a statement confirming the data leak, which occurred in August of this year. In addition to information about various Pokemon games, data about 2,606 employees, including current and former employees, as well as contract workers, has been leaked online.

Game Freak apologized to everyone affected and announced that the hacked server has been restored and verified. The statement doesn’t mention leaks regarding past or future games, but the confirmation of the hack itself lends more credence to those rumors.

One of the most interesting leaks was the publication of the code name of the new console Nintendo Switch 2, called Ounce. Also leaked were code names for the 10th generation of Pokemon games and references to other unannounced games in the series. In addition to this, development details, notes and concept art have been released, revealing even more information.

The Pokémon Company has generally been very quiet this year, holding just one Pokémon Presents in February, which featured Pokémon Legends: ZA, set in the Kalos region (Gen 6). Usually there is another show in August, but this year there was none.
