Huge diversity at the 12th Freiburg Federal Competition / Fire Brigade Music Endured Despite Troubled Times Without a Test Run

Freiburg im Breisgau (ots) –

Outstanding performances despite many obstacles: At the 12th Federal Fire Brigade Music Competition in Freiburg im Breisgau, bands competed in the upper, middle and lower classes. “The diversity of the sound bodies is enormous,” said Karl-Heinz Banse, president of the German Fire Brigade Association, enthusiastic about the performances. The event was supposed to take place in 2020, but was postponed twice due to the pandemic. Federal Chief of Staff of the DFV Thorsten Zywietz thanked the Chief of State Personnel Nico Zimmermann and the organizing team of the Freiburg fire brigade led by Andreas Huck and Alexander Frank for the preparation and implementation of the event. “Thanks for this commitment!” It also addressed members of all participating musical groups.

The DFV president praised the “sound fire” in which the public also celebrated the 12th match of the national ranking on the Münsterplatz on Friday. “This concert in a unique setting was a highlight,” he summed up. Previously, a reception took place in the historic department store to kick off the event. Here Banse had reminded that firefighters had to comply with special hygiene measures as part of the critical infrastructure due to the corona pandemic. “The music of the fire brigade has held up despite the difficult times when no test operation was possible,” he said. Mayor Stefan Breiter said it was a great honor for Freiburg im Breisgau to host the 12th national competition. “This musical experience was prepared with a lot of effort and enthusiasm,” he said. Freiburg im Breisgau offered perfect conditions, among other things with the concert hall for stage evaluation and conclusion.

“Firefighters are diversity, even in music. Music is important for the youth work of firefighters,” explained Undersecretary Hermann Schröder of the State Interior Ministry, who once played music with the minstrels of the brigade of fire. Dr Frank Knödler, president of the State Fire Brigade Association, described firefighter music as “the icing on the cake in any event, from scarves to symphonic music to big band”.
