At the controversial breeder from Eersel (NB), from whom all dogs were taken in this year, another eight dogs were discovered during a check. The municipality plans to check the building weekly, says a spokesperson Broadcasting Brabant.

Earlier this year, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) took a total of 667 animals from the owner’s premises. The company located at the address was banned from breeding. Breeding at that address is in conflict with the zoning plan.

The municipality therefore imposed an order subject to periodic penalty payments on the man. The owner was fined eight euros of 2500 euros, but challenged all fines.

Various abuses were also discovered at the company. The confiscated dogs were kept in polluted pens and had no clean drinking water. Many animals were sick and stressed, the NVWA concluded. Most dogs now stay in one assylum. Some had to be put to sleep.

Privately owned

The eight dogs that were discovered last week did not stay in the house, but in the company building. “We are now investigating whether the dogs are kept commercially, or privately, as the owner himself indicates,” says a spokeswoman for the municipality of Eersel. The municipality is looking “together with other government agencies” at what should be done with the eight dogs.

Last June, the owner told a PowNed reporter: “I don’t know how things will go on now, but I won’t have a dog in my house anymore.”

Criminal case

There is a criminal case against the man who sued the animal protection organization House of Animals. The criminal investigation is still ongoing.
