Huge Crowds Flock to Makkah and Madinah Mosques for First Friday Prayers of Ramadan

RIYADH: Lakhs of worshipers flocked to Makkah and Madinah mosques for the first Friday prayers of this Ramadan. Since morning, the flow of believers had started to come to Iruharam for Jumu’ah. When pilgrims and countrymen lined up for Friday prayers in Makkah Masjid-ul-Haram, the inside and outside of the Haram became a great gathering of believers. Corridors, floors and courtyards were filled with believers. The line extended to the roads.

All the recently completed third Saudi development floors have witnessed huge rush. Anticipating the rush on Friday, the Iruharam Office had already made all the necessary preparations for the pilgrims. Around 5000 carts, including golf carts, were prepared for the journey of the elderly. 4000 people were assigned for cleaning and disinfection work. All the gates were opened to facilitate the movement of people. Entry to the Mataf was restricted by designating separate gates for Umrah pilgrims. A loophole-blocking arrangement was made in the field of security and traffic.

Barricades were placed in the courtyards to restrict the movement of people. Vehicles were restricted near the Haram from morning to reduce congestion. Only vehicles carrying Umrah pilgrims were allowed on the roads near the Haram. More people were assigned to the services of the Ministry of Health and the Municipality. A number of scouts and volunteers were mobilized along with security personnel to control the crowd.

What the fasting person gains from the school of fasting is deep devotion to God. To achieve that, he can suppress the senses and stay away from evil. Fasting is a hidden form of worship that no one but God can see. The imam exhorted the believers that its effect extends to the soul of the fasting person, his conditions and days.

Lakhs, including visitors, attended the Jumuah Namaz held at Masjid Dunna Bavi. The Masjidunnabawi Office has made all arrangements for the visitors and residents of Madinah to perform the Jumu’ah Namaz smoothly and peacefully. Dr. Hussain bin Abdulaziz Alusheikh led the Jumu’ah. In his Friday sermon, Imam said that fasting is a training for morality. Our fast should be an inspiration that encourages the most beautiful morals and pure deeds and protects us from bad qualities. The Imam exhorted the believers to strive to achieve the highest goals of this month and imbibe its pure qualities.
