According to a report, a British aircraft carrier is on its way to Hamburg. Strict security precautions will be taken on site.
Apparently the British Navy’s aircraft carrier HMS “Queen Elizabeth” is on its way to Hamburg. This is what “Bild” reports, citing well-informed port circles. The reason for the visit was to send a sign of European cohesion to the east, a marine expert told the newspaper.
According to “Vesselfinder”, the “Queen Elizabeth” left the British port city of Plymouth on Thursday morning. The aircraft carrier is scheduled to arrive in Hamburg on Monday, November 18th and dock at the Steinwerder cruise terminal.
A cordoned-off security area should be set up around the “Queen Elizabeth” by the Hamburg Homeland Security, and the water police will also carry out patrols, according to “Bild”.
The 284 meter long “Queen Elizabeth” can accommodate up to 40 aircraft and the core crew consists of 700 men. When the planes embark, the number increases to 1,600. The flight deck is 1.6 hectares in size and can also be used for launching the new F35 Joint Strike Fighter jet.
