Huelva Municipal Library Network Enhances Summer Services and Activities

The Huelva Municipal Library Network (RMBH), made up of seven libraries located in different parts of the city, with more than 10,000 users and a bibliographic collection of 85,603 copies, has improved its service during the summer.

During the summer season, as reported by the Huelva City Council in a statement, the loan service of the Municipal Libraries experiences an increase in the number of loans, due to the fact that during the summer holidays there is more free time and many users dedicate it to reading . That is why all the editorial novelties are available, which are generally the most demanded.

Among the most borrowed books of the summer are: Historias de mujeres casadas, by Cristina Campos; The crystal cuckoo, by Javier Castillo; Chemistry Lessons, by Bonnie Garmus; Crime in Cornwall, by John Bude; The wind knows my name, by Isabel Allende.

In addition, he stressed that the RMBH has an annual program of cultural and educational activities aimed at all audiences and educational centers.

The agenda of activities includes storytelling, workshops to encourage reading, artistic workshops (Intervened Book Workshops or Artist’s Book), creative writing workshops (Haikus Workshop) and traveling exhibitions (Pop Books Exhibition and Flea Collection Books Exhibition).

There is also a program available called ‘Libraries are also for you’, which is being developed at the Juan Ramón Jiménez Municipal Library with activities adapted to people with intellectual disabilities. The RMBH services also offer guided tours for educational centers.

On the other hand, the Reading Clubs at the Almudena Grandes Municipal Public Library and BPM Rogelio Buendía, are part of the network of Reading Clubs of the Centro Andaluz de las Letras.

In the sessions, aspects related to the programmed reading are discussed, debated and shared: the story, the rhythm of the action, the trajectory and interaction of the characters and, in line with this, the personal stories of the attendees emerge, creating a space for communication and exchange of vital experiences that help to enrich face-to-face meetings.

This activity is very well received by users, and after the summer break, it will resume in September with new shared readings.

It should be noted that in order to introduce interested people to the Portuguese language, the Federico García Lorca Municipal Library has programmed ‘¡Cocorocooó!’, a Portuguese reading aloud workshop every Thursday. The objective is to introduce this language to all those who wish to acquire fluency in the pronunciation of that language when they visit the neighboring country.

The RMBH has its own website from which it informs about the different planned activities and the services offered from each of the headquarters, with sections that refer to loans, reservations, Internet resources, bibliographic orientation or reading clubs. , among others.

At the same time, this website provides quick access to the ‘eBiblio’ electronic book lending platform, as well as other resources of general interest to users such as available digital libraries and newspaper archives, from where both local press and newspapers can be consulted. official bulletins and historical press.

The opening and Customer Service hours of all the offices integrated into the Huelva Municipal Library Network, especially for Easter, Rocío, Christmas and summer, are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
