Hublot launched its 10th manufacture piece, the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium, during LVMH Watch Week.
Hublot’s latest manufacture piece that has no dial, hands, or rotor and allows you to read the time on a dial that is integrated into the movement.
The MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System Titanium is characterized by its streamlined design, uniquely intricate sapphire crystal, and sophisticated movement, but it is neither a concept watch nor an expressive prototype.
Like all other MPs released to date, it is a highly accomplished and practical watch. Limited to only 50 pieces worldwide, this watch will soon grace the wrists of collectors.
MP-10 has no needle. Instead, the four displays are constantly rotating.
The upper third of the dial houses the hours and minutes combined with an invisible magnifying glass, while the middle third has a circular power reserve display with clearly marked green and red zones. There is.
The lower third displays the seconds directly above the tourbillon cage. The unique, suspended and tilted mechanical structure, made from monoblock aluminum, is patent pending.
The MP-10 has no dial. The dial is integrated with the movement. The movement is the face and soul of a watch. When reading the time, the eye is focused directly on the movement.
The MP-10 movement has an extremely architectural design and expressive characteristics centered on volume and depth. However, this in no way hinders visibility, it just makes it simpler.
The power reserve is particularly expressive, with a red and green two-tone disc positioned coaxially with the hour and minute display.
This design removes traditional space constraints typically defined by a central display in a horizontal plane.
The MP-10 displays hours, minutes, power reserve, and seconds vertically. The time is read out smoothly and naturally from top to bottom.
The displays are arranged in a straight line, with white lacquered typography on black aluminum rollers. On each display, read the current time using a red triangular marker.
The traditional movement winding system consists of a flat dial and a rotor on the case back. However, that structure was not compatible with the MP-10, so Hublot’s engineers kept the principle of the weights the same but replicated the weights vertically, just like the movement.
On either side of the central structure, two white gold blocks are placed so that they can move freely along the vertical axis.
To prevent collisions with the banks, Hublot has also developed a shock absorber system. These two vertical weights mesh with the rack, allowing the movement to be wound in both directions.
This is a patent-pending mechanism independently developed by Hublot, and the MP-10 has a power reserve of over 48 hours. The watch is wound using the crown at 12 o’clock, and the time is set using the second crown on the case back.
Although the case structure is simple (a glossy micro-blasted titanium middle piece and two-piece case back), the sapphire crystal on top is Hublot’s most complex yet, combining three slanted surfaces. It became.
The same goes for the integrated rubber strap, making it the manufacture’s most sophisticated design yet.
