THIS IS HOW WE REPORTED THE GAME OF HURKACZ WITH MUSETTIM IN EUROSPORT.PL
During the previous Grand Slam tournament at Roland Garros, the Wroclawian got used to long, five-set duels. This is how all three meetings with his participation ended. The grass courts at Wimbledon are different. Both matches – with the British Jan Choinski and the Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas – the Pole settled in three sets.
His Friday rival also had no problems in the previous two rounds, and in addition he could boast of a better balance (2-1) of direct matches with Hurkacz. The only victory that the Pole won was two years ago in the first round of Wimbledon. This could have been a good omen ahead of Friday’s match.

Wasted chances, then Hurkacz’s peace
The beginning was very tight. Both players were confidently winning their passes. Only in the ninth game, for the first time in this match, there was a balance, and then a break point, which also meant a set point for Hurkacz. In total, he had two chances to finish the first game, but Musetti managed to defend himself. The result was a tie-break.
The inhabitant of Wrocław started it splendidly. After a service ace, he took a 4-1 lead, and after another point, the Tuscan angrily kicked the ball into the stands, for which he received a warning from the referee. Although from 1-6 he managed to score three points, but then he slipped on the court and did not make it to the easy ball, pierced by Hurkacz. Our tennis player could breathe a sigh of relief.

The second set started similarly to the first, with the difference that in the third game the Pole had two break points. This time he took advantage of the first opportunity that came his way. The other thing is that the Italian had only himself to blame – first he made a double service fault, and then he made a terrible volley at the net. He followed suit shortly after, extending the lead to 3-1. The aforementioned break turned out to be crucial in this set, because Hurkacz served very well until the end and did not let the win be taken away from him. He closed the game with a score of 6:4.
In the third set, the Wroclawian attacked with vigor from the first balls. This surprised the serving rival and after a few minutes he could enjoy another break. It was the perfect opening for the party. After that, the competition went on as usual. Hurkacz confidently scored points with his serve, and the Italian had to work hard to keep his application.
The match went on in this way to 5:4 for Hurkacz. Then the Pole served to win the duel in three sets. Unexpectedly, some problems appeared at this point, because the Italian scored three break points. Our player, however, kept his cool, got out of trouble and confidently ended the match.
In the 1/8 finals, the Wroclawian will play with the defending champion Novak Djokovic from Serbia.
