Hubble took a picture of the young star’s “rage”

(Nexstar) — A baby star was caught on camera making a “star tantrum”, according to the European Space Agency.

This moment was captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, a joint effort of NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA).

In the epic image, the “very young” star is seen shooting off jets of pink glowing gas at supersonic speeds, The European Space Agency says.

“When the craft hits material around a still-forming star, the impact heats this material and causes it to glow,” the agency explained. “The result is a colorful and brittle structure, which astronomers call a Herbig-Haro object, rising at the bottom right of this image.”

The space agency says the star and its eruption are located in the Orion Nebula, about 1,250 light-years from Earth. That’s pretty far away, but the Orion Nebula is actually one of the closest star-forming sites to our planet, so scientists are keeping an eye on it to learn more about stars and planets at an early stage.

This isn’t the first time Hubble has caught this baby star in action. The telescope captured an equally stunning image in 2015.

In the old image, you can see the gas flow, with a bluish purple color, and colored filaments produced in the lower left of the image.
