Huawei’s new mobile has a circular screen

An elegant model with a clamshell design and an eye-catching circular screen. It’s the P50 Pocket, Huawei’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3.

In the unfolded position, the P50 Pocket has a solid 6.9-inch LED screen with a aspect ratio of 21: 9 and 120 hertz screen update, something that is starting to become standard in the slightly higher price ranges. It has a Snapdragon 888 circuit (but no support for 5g), a 4,000 mAh battery and runs on the Harmony OS 2 operating system.

The unit weighs 190 grams and is 7.2 mm thick when unfolded.

The main camera is 40 megapixels and it is flanked by an ultra-wide-angle lens of 13 megapixels and another lens that Huawei states should be able to reproduce greater color richness.

You can of course take selfie pictures in the usual way, but Huawei suggests using the main camera, with the external circular screen as a viewfinder window. The screen gives the P50 Pocket a remarkable look and it can also be used to display all kinds of notes, among other things.

The P50 Pocket is available in a standard version in white or black, with an 8GB frame and storage of 256GB. But in marketing, Huawei highlights the more luxurious version in silver or gold, which has 12GB of frame and 512GB of storage.

Whether and when the P50 Pocket will arrive in Sweden is unclear. But in that case, expect that it will cost somewhere between 13,000 and 17,000 kronor.
