Sketches of a new foldable Huawei smartphone have been released via the LetsGoDigital website. It is striking that the smartphone, just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and the Motorola Razr, gets a clamshell design.
Huawei has previously released the Huawei Mate X and Mate Xs to compete with the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Fold 2. However, Samsung has also launched a device that, just like an old-fashioned folding phone, opens upwards. The only smartphone currently competing with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is the Motorola Razr, but that may soon change. LetsGoDigital has found a patent from which we can conclude that Huawei is also working on a clamshell smartphone with a foldable screen.
In the sketches we see an elongated folding screen without a cutout for a selfie camera. On the outside is a smaller screen for notifications and simple actions. In addition to this small screen, we see a dual camera. We do not yet have specifications, a possible release date or a suggested retail price. For now we only have a patent that suggests that Huawei is working on a new foldable smartphone.
