The Chinese smartphone giant is trying to reach agreements with the major manufacturers to install these technologies on board the new models produced.
While the first deliveries of the 100% electric Alpha S – the Arcfox-branded car associated with Huawei technologies – were assured in China this summer, and that the tech giant now wants to launch its own car, the Avatar 11, now we can say that Huawei is more than just a phone maker.
Huawei in Renault?
And he wants to let it be known, as indicated our colleagues at Carscoops, with automakers signing licensing deals to integrate its technologies into 15 million vehicles worldwide each year.
Discussions have already been held to exploit the Chinese giant’s patents and install equipment on vehicles produced by BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, Subaru and even Renault.
Penalty-exempt patents
But, after the controversy that has recently hit Huawei regarding the company’s lack of cyber-security supervision and several espionage accusations, the American sanctions have heavily affected the Chinese production lines. In particular, it has had to slow down the production of smartphones and semiconductors, the latter essential for the automotive sector.
Financial difficulties therefore that the Huawei Tech department will have to overcome with the signing of agreements for the use of these patents which are, fortunately for the Chinese giant, not subject to American measures.
