Huawei Unveils Cheapest Foldable Smartphone So Far – Tablets & Phones – New

Chinese electronics maker Huawei unveiled the foldable smartphone with the lowest suggested retail price to date. The Pocket S is a variation of last year’s P50 Pocket. The flip phone is currently only available in China.

The Pocket S has a suggested retail price of 5988 yuan, which is currently around 830 euros. Samsung’s Z Flip 4 costs 6898 yuan, the P50 Pocket came out last year for 8988 yuan. The P50 Pocket came out in January in the Netherlands for a suggested retail price of 1599 euros; the Z Flip4 costs 1099 euros in the Netherlands.

The Pocket S is very similar to the P50 Pocket. The soc has been downgraded to Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, instead of the P50’s 888. There is also one less camera on the Pocket S. The cheaper version has to do without the 32 megapixel sensor for UV light. The Pocket S also has less storage to push the price: 128GB instead of 256GB.

The screen is the same foldable, 120Hz, 6.9 “OLED screen with a resolution of 1188 by 2790 pixels. In addition, there is an additional 1” round screen on the outside. It has a resolution of 340 by 340 pixels. Navigation messages and instructions can be displayed on it and the media can be operated.

The phone works in China on HarmonyOS 3.0. The Pocket S will be released in China next week. The manufacturer says nothing about a possible release in Europe.
