According to an industry source close to Huawei in China, it was mentioned that Huawei had started mass production of its next-generation foldable smartphone this November. It is also mentioned that the model in development will compete with the Galaxy Z Flip3, but the price is expected to be lower.
A report from the Economic Times (via IT Home) said that an investor meeting was held on November 25 where Zhaoli Technology revealed it had started mass manufacturing of its new foldable smartphone hinge for customers.
These hinges that are being manufactured by Zhaoli Technology are said to be cheaper and thus provide a higher rate of return. While Zhaoli Technology did not specify who the hinge was manufactured for, industry observers believe it was made for Huawei.
Foldable smartphones are definitely the next big thing in smartphone design, and almost every major manufacturer (OEM) dedicates its resources to the development of such devices. For example, Samsung’s success in marketing the Galaxy Z Flip3.
In particular, foldable smartphones like the Galaxy Z Flip3 are also an incentive for other brands as proof that consumers no longer see foldable smartphones as experimental devices. Especially when the Galaxy Z Flip3 appeared with an “affordable” price tag, Samsung managed to sell more than a million units in just 40 days.
Samsung has experienced success firsthand, and now plans to increase its foldable smartphone shipments from 7 million to 13 million by 2022. That includes 4 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold3 model and 9 million units of the Galaxy Z Flip3.
On the other hand, Samsung’s main competitor in the foldable smartphone space, in this case Huawei, is currently lagging behind in the game. As we know, Huawei still has big problems due to trade restrictions by the United States. Even so, Huawei certainly does not want to stand still. Likewise with other smartphone manufacturers.
