Health monitoring is at the heart of the functionality of the Huawei Watch D.
The Chinese company Huawei has just unveiled its latest smartwatch, the “Huawei Watch D“. A watch specializing in monitoring the vital constants of its owner thanks to its numerous sensors.
The smartwatch has been certified as a Class 2 medical device by the Drug Administration in China. Like many current smartwatches, it is able to know the heart rate, track sleep cycles, count the number of steps and estimate the distance traveled.
In addition to this, the watch can measure blood pressure with a margin of error set at around 3 mmHg (millimeter of mercury). Precision achieved thanks to “Huawei TruBP”, A sensor that uses micro air pumps to measure wrist pressure. The watch can also detect the risk of atherosclerosis, arrhythmia and sleep apnea. Finally, she can monitor the rate of oxygenation in the blood.
The Huawei Watch D is made of a scratch resistant aluminum alloy and a 1.64 inch 456 x 280 pixel AMOLED display with a density of 326 ppi. The whole body of the device is waterproof to IP68 standard, which means that it is completely dustproof and can be completely submerged in water at a depth of 1 meter for an hour. Huawei, however, does not recommend taking a hot shower or swimming with the watch.
Finally, the on-board battery promises more than 7 days of autonomy in smart mode and includes more than 70 sports modes. The watch is available in two colors: black and titanium. The Huawei Watch D will initially be distributed in China at a price of 3,000 yuan (around 416 euros). It will be necessary to wait before its distribution in the rest of the world.
