METRO SULTENG-Huawei made headlines by launching the Mate 60 Pro model as its first 5G smartphone in three years. This is possible thanks to the new 7nm Kirin 9000s 5G SoC manufactured by SMIC.
Now, it looks like another smartphone component will be made in-house and will most likely be featured in the upcoming Huawei P70 flagship device.

Huawei P70 features a proprietary camera sensor.

The reason for this switch is because Sony sensors are out of stock. After being hit by US sanctions, Sony stopped shipping its image sensors to the Chinese tech giant.

So now, the company is looking to build an internal camera system that will be featured on its next generation of smartphones.
One of the first to include this exclusive imaging technology will likely be the Huawei P70, as per rumors on Weibo (Via SamMobile).
Although the brand has to date relied on Sony cameras, Huawei has not renewed its contract with the Japanese giant for new sensors.
With the upcoming launch of P70, we can expect this upcoming flagship smartphone to feature an internal camera sensor.
