“The return of the king” and “light at the end of the tunnel” – that’s how some YouTube technology experts announce the Huawei P60 pro. An even more powerful camera, even more durable screen glass and even faster battery charging – the manufacturers’ promises sound quite tempting. As it becomes more and more difficult to impress demanding users, let’s find out what the Huawei P60 pro will try to win people’s hearts with this summer.

Unique design
The phone is available in classic black (also matte to prevent fingerprints on the body) and with a pearlescent texture that sparkles in the light. The light cap was inspired by the French Rococo period of the 18th century, when mother-of-pearl was widely used. Interestingly, these pieces are made by hand, so each phone has a unique pattern. Yes, no two phones are the same! In addition, the elegant cap is said to be very durable.
The size of the phone is very pleasant – not too big and not too small, so it can easily be put in a pocket or a smaller bag, and it weighs only 200 grams. Not only the corners of the display are curved, but also the sides, which makes holding the phone more comfortable. This will come in handy when playing games or browsing social networks while holding the phone in portrait mode. Also, the screen glass is said to be 10 times more durable thanks to the “Kunlun Glass” glass. Let’s take our word for it that countless screen durability tests have been carried out in laboratories and the screen will remain intact when dropped on a tiled floor.
Camera
The design of the cameras itself is quite laconic and classic, they are placed in the upper left corner of the phone. The giant size of the main camera is amazing! Huawei promises an unforgettable photography experience thanks to many improvements. Today, after testing the phone for two weeks, it seems that a separate article could be written only about the “Xmage” camera, because the quality of the images is three degrees superior to that of my everyday phone.
I started the testing with the usual “photo” mode. The images are bright, expressive, and you no longer have to tell your friends: “It can’t be taken so well, it looks better in real life.” The quality of photos in low light conditions is especially praised.
Therefore, I decided to photograph a snow rose at 21.45, which I also photographed in the afternoon. It was quite dark, but the very first photo made me exclaim – seriously?! The colors are expressive, the contrasts are tasteful and “not overblown”, the details are clearly visible. That’s why the camera is so big – to let more light in and take pictures like this.
The “macro” mode should be explained in more detail. It is customary to place the phone lens very close to the subject, but with this phone you don’t have to. I started by photographing the flowers, standing about three meters from the bed. An additional challenge was the windy day, as the flowers were constantly moving, but on the phone screen everything appeared to be in slow motion. The explanation is quite simple – the main camera is equipped with “Ultimate Light-intake” optical image stabilization, while the “anti shake” rotating sensor allows you to capture the shot in motion. The “macro” mode is ideal for flower photography, as you no longer have to dig up the flower bed to capture gorgeous flowers close-up.
I also tried the “macro” mode around ten in the evening, and the results did not disappoint. The background is softly blurred, the pattern of each petal is clearly visible. The picture is bluer than the plant looks in real life, but that doesn’t bother me.
If you have “Huawei P60” in your pocket, you must play with “zoom”. In the first picture, it is almost impossible to see the dog, but when zoomed in ten times, I would like to take my hat off in front of the resolution. It should be noted that even when shooting a video, it is possible to zoom in on the shot, and it seemed that the cat on the ridge of the roof was right there, within arm’s reach. The microphone is also powerful, as the squealing of the tail was clearly audible in the video recording. In my mind’s eye, I imagined that the phone could be used instead of binoculars when traveling to take a closer look at the details of architectural monuments.
Before publishing photos on social networks, I am not particularly fond of image processing, so the “AI assistant” built into the camera comes in handy. It is located in the upper left corner as the first icon. The artificial intelligence program allows you to take photos in which colors, shadows and textures are highlighted, and the use of filters and post-processing can also be omitted. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate that the Huawei P60 has an aperture of 10 sizes that can also be adjusted manually.
Battery
The phone has a built-in 4815mAh battery, and the battery charging speed is another reason why you would want to buy the “Huawei P60 pro” Turbo” charging allows you to charge the phone up to 50% in just 10 minutes! Full charge – in just 29 minutes. Of course, wireless charging is also available .
It is a great pleasure that the principles of sustainability are supported, as the “BatteryCare” technology ensures that the battery life is longer. The phone’s battery is promised to “last” for at least five years, assuming you charge it once a day. So you won’t have to look for a new phone every two or three years, because you can use this phone much longer.
Cool “feats”
The aforementioned “AI assistant” helps not only to make pictures more pleasing to the eyes. When you turn on the “AI assistant” function, a small symbol – a circle surrounded by dashed lines – appears in the lower right corner during photography. Clicking on this icon shows everything that the “AI assistant” knows – “identify”, “code scanner”, “shopping” and “translate”. Zooming in on the book “Notes of a Street Musician” using the translate function only translates the word “musician” into English. This should be appreciated, because the translator is actually only offered in a few languages - Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian, German and Portuguese. I tried it to translate the description on the detergent into German – it worked!
By bringing the phone closer to the glass, the shopping function actually recognizes the object and offers visually similar items. Unfortunately, Latvian online store pages are not selected, but lesser-known foreign pages.
Another nice “feature” is the weather “widget” as a 3D animation, which can be placed on the lock screen mode and viewed at any time without unlocking the screen.
In summary
The powerful camera will be appreciated by nature photographers and social network content creators – the images are bright, detailed and do not require additional processing thanks to the helping hand of artificial intelligence. Even in darker conditions, the camera will provide pleasant moments, moreover, dust resistance has been improved and the phone is waterproof up to a depth of two meters.

This model has just received the “DXomark” portal all the time the highest rating. Both the phone’s technical capabilities and photography capabilities are praised, and the title of first place means that the Huawei P60 pro is the most advanced smartphone for taking photos.
Adherents of an active lifestyle will recognize “Huawei P60 pro” as a great ally – it can be used both as binoculars and a camera, as well as a translation tool on foreign trips or in the store. The long-lasting battery lets you run games, Waze, and other apps all day long without worrying about a dead battery. The conclusion after trying the phone is as follows – it is a great summer ally! The price of the phone is currently 1199 euros.
