Huawei Opens First Health Laboratory in Europe in Helsinki, Finland

At the end of October, the first “health laboratory” of the Chinese company “Huawei” in Europe was opened in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. It houses simulators for various sports, specially adapted for scientific data recording and processing. The obtained information is used to improve the operation of the company’s smart devices and their ability to record the parameters of the respective activities.

The laboratory has simulators for more than 20 different sports.

They are mostly different from gym machines as they are specially designed and built for scientific data. One such is a room-sized sliding “treadmill” adapted for roller skating, roller skiing, bicycles and sports wheelchairs. It can change speed and incline, and simulate real track parameters using GPS records.

A special counterflow pool has been built for swimming data collection. It also measures all relevant parameters of the athlete’s health, including exhalations, using a special breathing mask. The pool is monitored and analyzed by several cameras and countless other sensors.
