The Huawei Nova Y91 is a smartphone with an interesting battery, but will it impress with something else?
The 7000mAh battery is said to last 29 hours, but charging will take more than 2 hours
It is not sold in the Czech Republic, customers in Poland or Russia can buy it
A month ago, Huawei put its new mid-range mobile phone on sale. It is called the Nova Y91 and the special feature of this model is a huge battery with a capacity of 7,000 mAh. The phone is not on sale in the Czech Republic, but you don’t have to regret it – apart from a large battery, it doesn’t exactly come with dizzying equipment.
Huawei’s biggest battery
According to the manufacturer’s official website, it is a lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 7,000 mAh, but sometimes 6,900 mAh is also indicated, deviation is possible. The battery is in one piece, not classically divided into branches, as we are used to seeing in phones with extremely fast charging.
In order for such a large battery to fit somewhere, the body of the phone must be either really thick or really big. The second option is correct, because the Nova Y91 has an LCD panel with a diagonal of 6.95″ and the body has overall increased dimensions: 171.6 x 79.9 x 8.9 millimeters. At least the manufacturer managed to keep the thickness at the waist at a meaningful value. However, the weight is slightly higher – despite the plastic chassis, it weighs 214 grams.
Huawei has a phone with a 7000mAh battery
However, such a large battery offers punishingly slow charging, the maximum power is 22.5 W. Our reviews show that a relatively common 5000mAh battery is charged with this power for about an hour and a half. A 40% larger battery will therefore certainly take 2 hours to charge, probably a little longer. Of course, it depends on the conditions in practice, but the numbers probably won’t lie in this regard.
You buy it in Russia
And the headline doesn’t lie either. The rest of the equipment is really not impressive. Huawei Nova Y91 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, due to the absence of chips it only runs on 4G Internet, it offers a stereo speaker, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and a dual rear camera setup: 50 Mpx main with PDAF and 2 Mpx depth. In addition, there is an 8MP selfie camera hidden in a cut-out reminiscent of old iPhones.
The Nova Y91 with a large 7000mAh is not sold in the Czech Republic. If you’re interested in this smartphone, you’ll have to go to a place where it’s on sale. For example, you can buy it from your neighbors in Poland, otherwise it is on sale in Europe, for example, in Turkey and, unsurprisingly, in Russia, where Huawei happily trades alongside its Chinese counterparts Xiaomi and Realme. The converted price is almost 5,000 crowns including VAT.
