“Huawei NetGPT: The Competitor to ChatGPT in the AI Race”

ChatGPT is the AI of the moment, you’ve probably heard of it before or maybe even used it. The AI-powered chatbot is well-known and has around 100 million users. So much so that Microsoft quickly added it to Bing, after investing heavily in OpenAI, the company that publishes ChatGPT. But Huawei could launch a competitor to ChatGPT.

After Russia, which launched its chatbot with AI, it is China with Huawei that could enter the AI race, with a chatbot called NetGPT. The company has indeed filed a trademark application with the Chinese patent office for such a name.

The Chinese giant has indeed registered the “Huawei NetGPT” trademark, but we do not yet have so much information on what is behind this name. The details aren’t mentioned in the trademark filing, however, NetGPT seems to be Huawei’s answer to the US and ChatGPT.

Huawei would therefore have the ambition to develop a system similar to ChatGPT, but it has not yet communicated on it. However, Huawei had indicated that ChatGPT would not be integrated into its products, but would work on “more advanced AI systems”.

Without any confirmation at the moment and without more information, we can hope that Huawei has big ambitions with a new AI tool. However, this may indeed seem realistic, due to the fact that the Chinese giant is banned in the United States, but also cannot use certain American technologies. The company which still offers smartphones, especially high-end in France, but also headphones, computers, tablets and other computer equipment, must bounce back on new solutions.
