A Weibo insider has shared some interesting tidbits about Huawei’s upcoming Mate X3 foldable phone. According to the report, it will be launched before the Huawei P60 series, which means it will be the company’s next flagship to debut.
The Mate X3 is said to have next-generation satellite communication, allowing Mate X3 owners to send and receive short messages, using the direct satellite network. It will even support sending voice messages, in a marked upgrade over early implementations of the feature. The current Huawei Mate 50 can only send SMS without receiving them.
It’s a niche feature, to be sure, but having the ability to send and receive messages when there’s no coverage is pretty impressive. Also, it may not be useful in your day to day life, but if you need it, it could literally save your life.
